IAEM proudly presents Edward Liu, managing director of Conference & Exhibition Management Services Pte Ltd (CEMS) in Singapore, with its 2006 Chairman's Award. Liu will be honored at the Opening General Session & Awards Presentation to be held Tuesday, 28 November 2006 during Expo! Expo! IAEM's Annual Meeting & Exhibition in San Diego. "Edward Liu has been a pioneer in the global exhibition industry and is responsible, in very large part, for the increased recognition and respect that IAEM has attained in Asia," remarks IAEM Chairman Sandy Angus. "He has been a champion of IAEM, selflessly giving an extraordinary amount of his energy and time."

Liu has been a member of IAEM since 1979, prior to the organization's evolution into an international association. An influential participant in the international exhibition and event industry, his company holds events in Singapore, Thailand, China, India and Pakistan. Over the past two years, Liu's efforts have propelled IAEM to open offices in Singapore and China, increasing its membership throughout Asia.

Liu has also been a powerful force in attempting to convince American companies of business opportunities in the China market, and improving the dialogue between the United States and China at the highest levels. He helps IAEM manage the CEM Program in the Asia-Pacific region.

Currently, Liu has served on the IAEM Board of Directors since 2002, and has served on several other committees and task forces. Most recently he was instrumental in conceiving the Asia Exhibition Council, currently serving as its co-chair.

The Chairman's Award honors an individual whose assistance to the IAEM Chairman has been meritorious. There is no open call or vote for this award, instead recommendations may only be put forward by the IAEM Chairman and must be approved by the IAEM Board of Directors. Recipients are recognized for going above and beyond in their service to the IAEM Chairman, helping grow both national and international relationships.
