Edward Liu Conferred Knighthood by Ivorian Government

Singapore, 12 March 2008 – Edward Liu (PBM), Managing Director of Conference & Exhibition Management Services was recently awarded "Chevalier (Knighthood) by the National Order of the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire" for his outstanding contributions and services towards developing strong bilateral ties between the Republics of Cote d'Ivoire and Singapore.

Conferred by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire His Excellency Mr Youssouf Bakayoko on behalf of the Ivorian Government, the award presentation ceremony was held at The Arts House at The Old Parliament House on 7 March 2008. It was attended by more than 30 guests who have business interests in Cote d'Ivoire.

Mr Liu has served as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire in Singapore since 1999 and has been actively advocating and promoting bilateral ties between Cote d'Ivoire and Singapore. This conferment makes Mr Liu the first Singaporean to be knighted by the Ivorian Government.

Amongst the guests who witnessed the decoration ceremony was the Ambassador of the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire to Singapore, Her Excellency Boa Liliane Marie Laure.

During the recent official trip of Mr Bakayoko, he called on Singapore's Foreign Minister, Mr George Yeo and the Trade & Industry Minister, Mr Lim Hng Kiang, amongst others.
